How does the TF2 Drop System work?

The Item Drop System in Team Fortress 2 allows players to randomly receive weapons, supply crates, and even cosmetic hats simply by playing.

The Weekly Cap

To prevent players from abusing the system using idle servers, Valve implemented a maximum weekly time limit. A player has approximately 10 to 11 hours of playtime during which items can drop.

When does the server reset?

The hour cap resets globally every Thursday at 00:00 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). Our timer automatically adjusts the countdown to this exact moment, regardless of where you are located.
